Projeto LIFE IP CLIMAZ visita Viveiro Florestal de Espécies Autóctones

As part of the celebrations of the National Nature Conservation Day, the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project visited the Forest Nursery of Native Species, in collaboration with the Citizenship and Environmental Education Division of the Regional Secretariat for the Environment and Climate Action (SRAAC), in an action that included the participation of 15 children and 2 monitors from the Terra Chã Community Center, with the guidance of technicians from SRAAC and the Regional Directorate for Forest Resources and Territorial Planning.

During this activity, the children were given an explanation of the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project and its importance for adapting to and mitigating climate change in the Azores. An interactive presentation was given at the Interpretation Centre of the Forest Nursery on the formation of the Azores islands and the native flora, as well as an explanation of the various themes related to the region's endemic species.

Finally, a visit was made to the project intervention area, where the nursery infrastructure was expanded. This investment, carried out within the scope of the LIFE IP CLIMAZ project, aims to increase the production capacity of endemic plants, which will be used in the various intervention areas of the nature conservation projects.
